If you are going to invest in private mathematics tutoring you need to have it done right! Here at Victoria Jane, we are thorough and we do things right! Randomly turning up to students' lessons and working through past papers does not work, it wastes their time and it wastes your money. For learners to achieve we need to teach them the things they can't do, it's actually a little bit more complicated than that... there are certain topics which we class as high stakes, they come up every year and they account for a lot of marks. To maximise your learner potential we need to assess which of these 'Big Hitting' topics your learner cannot do and focus our efforts there.
To enable us to do this all Victoria Jane clients will sit a tier-specific diagnostic assessment, this will be marked and a 'Question Level Analysis' completed, following this a personal learning plan will be developed which tells us which topics we need to prioritise. Post lesson we complete a brief written feedback form telling you and your learner the outcome of the lesson and we send you a PDF of the lesson notes.
Each lesson usually begins with a discussion of the topic, a quick look at the syllabus and on which paper your learner can expect to encounter the question followed by good quality teaching and learning.
Lessons usually end focusing on topic-focused GCSE or GCE questions and in most cases, learners revisit their diagnostic assessment to prove mastery of the topic.
